Road trip Day 3

A dreary driving day with rain and freeway delays.

Chicago was wet when we arrived so it was off to Lego land.

Pizza was on the menu for supper and what better place than Chicago UNO Pizza!

Everybody happy with their meal!

They were impressed with Papa Dougy's spicy deep dish Numo Uno!

Even though it was cool and rainy, the hotel opened the outdoor pool for an after supper dip... exclusive for the Wurch boys!

After the swim was the traditional Chicago lego fest.

Bedtime and onto Toledo tomorrow for the delivery of the packages!

Road trip day 2

Day 2.. Have surrendered to the boys.. Carson is now El Capitan, Landon his Leut. And Em is the Intelligence officer! I am driver and supplier of goodies.

The day started with a great breakfast at the hotel in Fargo. Two guys wanted to make their own waffles, but after they didn't taste like the 'out of the box, pop in the toaster cardboard type', they switched to fruit loops. Em of course had eggs and sausage.

Bonus! On the road by 8:30 and everyone slept for 90 minutes!

Carson didn't like my music so popped in the head phones!

Lunch was at a retro A&W once we were through Minneapolis.

On the way out, Em was sure he saw Kobe and Reggie driving a white 1/2 ton!

In the pool at Holiday Inn Express in Eau Claire by 3:30. All to ourselves. ..

Quite interested in the attached games room.

Oh well.... Jeff went through quarters quickly as well!

Time for supper!

On to Chicago tomorrow

On the road to Toledo.. Hope not a Griswold summer vacation.

After an interesting crossing at the border, we are on our way. Even with some discussion about "no talking to the border guard unless they ask you a question", Carson came through with some last minute comments and information for her. .... Feels like I'm travelling with Jordy again! He was another one with a number of famous lines in his repertoire as well!

Lunch was a picnic at the rest stop and then on to Fargo. Seems like we got back into the heat as soon as we got back in good ole America!

Had to do a bandaid on the side of the highway before Grand Forks... Carson cut a finger in the back seat and sounded like he had cut his wrists by all the squalling about the blood.....Minor injury, and one drop of blood!

Guys were in the pool and water slide by 4 pm. Emerson still leery about going down the slide.

We played monkey in the middle and Landon shot some hoops with the basketball. 5 hours on the road, #*^, 2 hours in the pool, priceless.

Now 6:00 and deciding to either let them wear themselves out, or go and get some supper. Landon wants to go to Bob Evans, but no such place here! This is a western town boys!

Everyone needed new sandals as they were falling apart so off to Target... New sandals and hats.

Desperate for a place for food so Taco Johns was closest... Now back and swim before bed.

Home from the lake

Friday and Saturday update,

There was a gale wind blowing at the lake Friday morning so we packed up and headed home around 4 pm.

We did the traditional KFC on the way out of the Pas and ate supper on the road. By then everyone was pretty tired.

After naps, we were stopped at an RCMP check stop. Em was impressed with all the cars and police. When the Policeman came to the window a big squeaky voice from the back seat announced, "We haven't been drinking and driving!".. Carson (4) sounded like a flashback to his Uncle Jord at that age.

Finally arrived home at midnight.... Was a good drive.

Saturday morning was a sleepy start but the boys headed out on bikes to the park for a picnic lunch.

Carson got a free skateboard lesson from the pro at the skateboard park.

After lunch was over Carson napped and Em and Landon went to check out the bike trail into Birds Hill Park. A bridge over the flood way leads to the park.

On the way back, Em was too tired to ride up the hill so Papa Dougy helped him out.

A good day that needed with bike races on the driveway!

Painting rocks and the magic smoke

Breakfast was a big event today!

Carson was on cleanup again!

He has been wearing his new swim shirt everywhere.

The boys helped at the boat launch, ever expecting the wind to die down so we can go for a boat ride.

They picked rocks for the big rock painting event....Papa Dougy setup a big sheet of plywood so everyone had lottsa space.

Everyone did a good job!

The finished rocks were very nice

Landon and Papa Dougy finally launched the boat and took a ride to the scout camp....but guess what? as soon as we got there, a big black cloud came over and the wind was back. so we headed home and took the boat back out for now.

Supper was fried fish that everyone liked. After supper it was time for the bonfire and the magic smoke exhibition.

The 's'mores ' were good as well.

Kobe was getting some as well... of course.

Ready for a bath and bed as everyone smelled like smokies!

Fishing and Beach Day

Today started with a sunny morning. Carson did a good job for breakfast and made waffles and washed dishes.

The big lake has whitecaps again so we decided to take a ride to Landry Lake for pike. Carson and Landon were game for the trip, Emerson decided to stay and keep,Nana Reenie company and play computer games.

Landon's blog input:

This is me and the fish I caught. It was about 17in. long. About 45sec. Later I Caught another fish. And after a few min. of trolling along the bank I caught something else! A piece of plastic :). We saved that for the trash... No littering!

Then it was Carson's turn.. He hooked a nice size pike... For his little spider man outfit!

We were the lucky to see the great Bald Eagle on a tree.

We got back in time for lunch. Then Emersona and Papa Dougy took a run to the dump with garbage. The dump attendant told there was a bear in the pit 5 min. before we got there. All we saw was the bear poop, and Emer was just as glad!

On the way back we checked out the beach. There was lots of action so we decided it was time to hit the beach after Carson woke up. Ella and Myre came as well with Nana Connie... It was great in the waves.

We had triple choc brownie ice cream for a treat with our friends. Carson had a good flight with his new kite.

Supper was at our place with Ella and Myre... we had burgers and hot dogs.

Every one ready for bed by 9.

Wind, waves and the Duck House

Thunder storms last night made for a wild and windy day at the lake. Breakfast was a full event that everyone helped with. Em' did the eggs and Carson the waffles.

Nana Reenie went to town with Connie and we finished up building the duck house.

Now we have to find a tree near the water for a mounting place.
The wind kept blowing and the waves got the biggest ever. We'll play games, do a puzzle and have ribs for supper!

Supper and friends over for fun and games!
